Notice of Revision to the Paternity & Pre-maternity Leaves

Dear faculty and staff,
Amendments to the Act of Gender Equality in Employment and its Enforcement Rules in effect started Jan. 18, 2022. Before amendments are made to our school’s Leave Rules, the following leave rules will be enforced:
1. Paternity Leave:
(1) The 5-day paternity leave currently in effect has been extended to 7 days and it includes accompanying the spouse for pregnancy checkup.
(2) When applying for the aforementioned leave, please indicate in the comment column either you are accompanying your spouse for a pregnancy checkup or for childbirth as they apply to different rules.
(3) Leave-related regulations: Application for pregnancy checkup leave must be submitted during the period when the applicant’s spouse is pregnant, and her Maternal Health Booklet or related proof must be attached at the same time. Paternity leave application should be made within a 15-day period before, on, or after the day that the applicant’s spouse gives birth to their child. The applicant must also attach the child’s birth certificate, or related proof.
2. Pre-maternity leave:
(1) Civil Servants' Insurance Faculty and Staff:The current pre-maternity leave given by the School is 8 days which is better than the regulated days (7 days), thus, the pre-maternity leave remains unrevised.
(2) Labor Insurance Faculty and Staff:Increased from 5 days to 7 days.
